- January 27 1:15 p.m – 2:30 p.m. Lisa Savage, Coordinator for Code Pink Maine and Mariam Raqib, a Ph.D. candidate in Law, Policy Society at Northeastern University, will discuss the past and current situation in Afghanistan. - January 27 (rescheduled to February 24) A panel discussion on the Afghanistan war is being held at Bates College. For more info contact Bates College New World Coalition.
- February 13 (Snow date Feb 27) Artists and poets come together at the UCC Church in Bath for a "Draw-a-thon" where they will create images of how our war $$ could be used here in Maine. Artists and poets gather at 10:00 am and the community at-large is invited for the 5:00 pm pot luck supper and program featuring music and poetry. UCC church is located at 150 Congress Ave in Bath. - February 18 Draw-In at the state capital in Augusta (Hall of Flags). Will use the visual art created at the “Draw-a-thon” as well as art rendered on the spot. Artists will pose the question to passersby, “What would you spend our tax dollars on rather than war?” Help will be needed to deliver messages to legislators and their staffs during the Draw-in. - February 24 A panel of Bates College students and faculty, along with a Waterville peace activist, discuss the war in Afghanistan at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Februaray 24, in Bates College's Keck Classroom (G52), Pettengill Hall, 4 Andrews Road (Alumni Walk).
- March 17 Bring Our War $$ Home vigil and leafletting outside Rep. Chellie Pingree's office in Portland (corner of Middle and Exchange Streets) from 11:30 - 1:00 pm
- March 20 Active Community Teach-in at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 120 Park Street, Bangor. Speaker will be Mariam Atifa Raqib, who was a member of the Afghanistan Women's Council in Afghanistan from 2006 - 2007 and who is now the President of the Afghanistan Samsortya, a non-profit Afghistan Reforestation Project in Boston, Massachusetts. - April 10-11 Statewide action date when local groups are encouraged to hand out literature door-to-door in their communities about the Bring Our War $$ Home campaign. Let us know how many of these door-hangers you will need in your community that weekend.
